Week 31: Garlic Cheese Bread

Not every night is a culinary adventure. Some nights (more often than not) we eat simple. Something like this . . .

I usually pair it with some whole wheat penne and frozen garlic bread with cheese. I decided to step it up a bit, though, and (gasp!) make my own garlic bread with cheese.

Garlic Bread with Cheese

Taken from allrecipes.com

Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes
Servings: 8

1/2 C melted butter
1 1/2 Tbsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp dried parsley
1 (1 pound) loaf Italian bread
1 (8 oz) package shredded mozzarella

Preheat oven to 350.

Slice loaf of bread in half length-wise.

Combine butter, garlic powder, and parsley. Brush onto bread (and not crust) side of sliced bread.

Bake on cookie sheet in oven for 10 minutes.

Add shredded cheese. Return to oven for 5 minutes, until cheese is melted.

My Notes:
I only used half a loaf of bread. It was actually French bread. I used all the butter, garlic, and parsley but did only use half of the cheese.

Totally delish and super easy!

  1. The cheese bread looks awesome!
But, I have to be honest...we were kind of disappointed in our TJ's sauce...
I LOVED the Archer Farms Arrabiata Sauce from Target, but they don't sell it anymore, as far as I know. :(
